Hey, This week I've been showing you how our quick win SEO process works. If you've been following along: You should've already selected 5 keywords & generated your quick win strategy! Now it's time to execute. Scroll to the right of your quick win strategy sheet, you will see a series of recommendations. All you have to do, is work through the recommendations for each target keyword: Featured Snippet Theft Do a search for your target keyword. If you see a featured snippet, we are going to try and steal it through the power of observation. All you have to do is look at the current ranking page and then replicate the featured snippet on your page as closely as possible. For example, if Google is showing a 56 word paragraph after a H2 that includes the target keyword - you need to do the same. But if Google is showing a list of items and your page doesn't have a list, you need to add one as well. Just observe and integrate. FAQ Schema I have seen consistent improvements in CTR when integrating FAQ schema and it's so easy to do! Just search for your target keyword and look for the people also ask box- If you see one, make a note of 3 to 5 relevant questions. You can click on the questions to generate more ideas. Then add an FAQ section to your content that is visible to everyone like this- Next just use my FAQ rich snippet tool to generate the code you need to add to your page. Simple! Surfer SEO Optimization Myself and the wider SEO community are seeing great results when optimizing content with Surfer SEO. All you have to do is run your target keyword and page through the tool, then follow the recommendations it makes- It doesn't get much easier than that! Internal Linking There are lots of different internal linking strategies, but we score quick SEO wins by- - Updating all existing internal links to 100% exact match anchor text
- Adding new internal links to relevant content where possible
The easiest way to do that is to run a scan with Screaming Frog, select your target URL and then click on the InLinks tab- Then go through each internal link and update the anchor text to be 100% exact match like the image above. Finally, do a site:domain.com <broad relevant keyword> search in Google to find more relevant pages you can add internal links to. Forcing Google's Hand When you have finished making changes to your pages… ...you should re-index them through Google Search Console so they process those changes immediately. Just inspect your URL and click on "Request Indexing", you'll see a message like this- And if you've added FAQ structured data to your page, you'll see this live in the search results within the hour! The Next Steps Now all you have to do is sit back, relax and observe. BUT: If we don't see the page move into the top 3 for our target keyword within 3 weeks… ...then we send it through our content promotion process and ultimately, our link building processes. Remember: SEO is just a series of repeatable processes. And just like we have a step by step process to score quick wins... ...we also have step by step processes for link building, on page SEO, hiring writers, optimising content, technical SEO and more. That means my team always knows what to do, when to do it and how to do it. But most importantly: It means that we can build complete SEO strategies that scale whilst being able to train new team members effectively. This is the beauty of having a set of repeatable SEO processes. Which leads me to ask: Are you using step by step SEO processes in your business? And if not, why not?
